RV Round Up – How Long Have You Been RVing?

Currently, more than 8.1 million households across the country own an RV, and according to recent reporting from RVIA, that number will more than double by 2030. In the reporting, approximately 16.9 million households showed a strong interest in purchasing an RV within the next five years.

With the potential for significant growth on the horizon, we started thinking, once you commit to the RV life, how long do you stay? To help us answer that question, we turned to some of our RVing friends and asked them: How long have you been RVing?

@AirstreamVagabond
We celebrated our 7th nomadiversary this year. Our journey started fairly suddenly when family called with a cancer diagnosis. At the time, prognosis was grim at 6-9 months. We were blessed to have 5 years to celebrate life and help with care. That moment of “if you only have 6-9 months left with your parent, how do you want to spend it?” Was very real for us. We knew our answer was right by their side or at least closer than 2000 miles away. We sold everything and hit the road. We originally thought we would be on the road for a year or two but when we realized how much there is to see on this continent, we knew that this is the best life choice for us.

We started RVing in 2016, we rented a Class A Motorhome to see if it would be a good fit for how we wanted to travel. We had already been shopping and researching about the RV life fort wo years prior. Then in January 2017 We purchased our first RV a Winnebago Vista 27N, basically a small Class A that we could fit into every National Park. We lived in our RV for almost 5 years, but in 2021 we bought a home base. We still travel in that RV today and have over 135,000 miles on it. It has taken us to amazing places and we have met the nicest people while on the road.

We have been RVing for 3 years.  We started during Covid. At that time we were renting an office space for business that Hank was working out of Monday thru Friday. We decided to break the monotony and travel America. After some research, a Class B Van was the most versatile option.

As a kid, as young as 5 or 6, my family started to travel around the western states in our motorhome.  We had several over the years, that grew as the family grew.  We all rode motorcycles, and would pull a trailer full of them along with us in the 80’s and 90’s. It was a natural move for me in 2020 to purchase a camper of my own!  I hoped to travel with my kids and build memories with them similar to the ones I still hold dear as an adult.  We have enjoyed exploring WA, OR, and CA on road trip adventures with the camper in tow.
